Mark Wentworth is to colour what hearing is to music. He observes, he notes, he delves and he emerges with answers which can be as astounding as the realisation that comes from the understanding of a symphony in all its glory.
For Mark is one of the world's leading colour consultants and specialists. It sounds so simple and superficial, but what defines Mark as a person and what he does is as complex as it is revealing. If you thought colour was purely a matter of recognising the component parts of the spectrum, then think again. Understanding, explaining and applying the deeper meaning of colour and the extraordinary influence it has on our lives is an art and a science all rolled into one. For Mark Wentworth, it as a way of life which takes him around the world time and time again as his audience grows in both size and stature
From a background in film and TV make-up where his natural interest in colour intensified, Mark went on to study with the Colour Harmonic Foundation, gaining honours in a course which covered colour psychology, colour in décor and colour in the environment.
He conducted his own studies and research and his expanded knowledge lead him to establish a worldwide series of workshops, teaching people about the apparent power and everyday use of colour. Qualifying as a colour consultant enabled him to reach an even wider audience and, at the same time, he became increasingly aware of the link between colours in fashion and and the effect it appears to have on society.
He will also tell you of the links between colour and the personality, why individuals have colour preferences and how colour can also reflect areas of disharmony and stress within the body.
In addition to giving talks and demonstrations at health spas and naturopathic clinics around the UK, Mark has extended his sphere of influence into the corporate arena where he provides career and personality advice for many companies and works with some of the leading branding and PR agencies. He advised and worked on the merger of Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance and on the choice of colours used by Eagle Star for the new company logo.
As a result of his endeavours in this fascinating field, Mark has become a regular on radio and TV shows around the world; he writes for newspapers in both the UK and in Portugal, where he now lives in Lisbon. His booklet, 'Add a Little Colour to Your Life' has sold almost 10,000 copies and has now been published in Spanish and Portuguese as well as English.
Totally committed to his vocation, he established his concept of 'Colour for Life', the all-encompassing title under which he shares his deeply personal love for, and joy of, colour. And from that he established Colour Psycho-Dynamics, a method enabling individuals to reconnect with what he describes as "their own greatness", not least by exploring and healing the shadows of the past.
Mark spent two years learning, experiencing and understanding the work of Jungian psychotherapist Dr Roger Woolger who developed a powerful way of freeing people from negative habitual pattern. Mark graduated as a Deep Memory Process Therapist, and is now a trainer of DMP in the UK.
Now, his love of theatre has combined with his therapeutic work and Colour for Life to raise the curtain on yet another, new aspect of his work, this time called Dynamic Theatre - described as a meeting place for the heart, soul and spirit of the greater community.
In 2004, Colour for Life was granted affiliation to the International Association of Colour and is now a recognised training centre. Mark has a successful practice in Lisbon - he described Portugal as his "heaven on earth" - and is currently running Colour for Life and Dynamic Theatre training throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

Demand for his exceptional knowledge and skills means that he opened a new practice in Kensington, London UK, in 2007 and his schedule reads like a geography lesson - Mark will take Dynamic Theatre to the drama department of New York University and the Athens Psychology Department; he took a colour presentation to the ER Department of Bellevue Hospital in Manhatan; Colour Dynamics training takes him to Istanbul and he appeared in Barcelona at an international group psychotherapy congress.
The list is, though, just a brief chapter in the fascinating life of a man who has taken the world and the language of colour into new realms of understanding…and put it to work in ways which are both convincing and inspirational.
As well as offering understanding and advice on a down-to-earth practical level, at the other end of the spectrum of life, Mark Wentworth sees rainbows of hope and understanding where many of us just see cloudy skies.
