Ann Merival was born in 1940 and grew up in Oxford and Bristol. After obtaining a B.A. Hons. Degree in French and Spanish from the University of Bristol, she worked for many years for organisations involved in helping the Third World. She met her mathematician husband, David Pearson, while they were both working in Geneva, but he in due course returned to his post at the University of Hull, and they brought up their three children (of whom the third is adopted and black) in the Hull area.

Reared strongly Catholic, Ann’s spiritual interests gradually widened further and further until, after joining the Edgar Cayce Association in 1992, she sought a past life reading from Aron Abrahamsen, who had known Cayce personally. He informed her that she had come into her present life “partly as a writer – to disseminate information on the spiritual life”. A holiday in Spain shortly after receiving this reading inspired Ann to research the Spanish nun’s life that Abrahamsen had told her about, and this in turn gave her the idea for her first book. Before this book was published, however, she decided to train in regression therapy and gained a Diploma from the London College of Past Life Regression Studies, under Dr. Keith Hearne. While still continuing with her writing, she started practising the therapy in Hull in 1998, and then she undertook further studies with Dr. Roger Woolger, who awarded her his diploma in Integral Regression Therapy in 2001. After a refresher course with Woolger, he, in 2007, gave Ann a new diploma in Deep Memory Process (this now being the name he gives to the therapy that he has pioneered).

Ann’s book, KARMIC RELEASE – Journeying Back to the Self, was published in 2006 (in India). It is an autobiographical book, whose aim is to demonstrate how Deep Memory Process works in practice. Jampacked full of past lives that make fascinating reading, it shows the impact these have had on her present life and also has exercises at the end of each chapter which many people have found to be extremely helpful. It is an ideal book to recommend to regression therapy clients – especially those who are just beginning to explore questions concerning reincarnation.

Ann’s two areas of special expertise are soul mate relationships and adoption. Her book on the latter (which also covers fostering and step families and even includes a chapter on karmic links with pets) is not yet finished, but her second book, which is entitled SOULS UNITED – The Power of Divine Connection, was published in 2009 by Llewellyn Worldwide, USA. Inspired both by her own sister meeting (and eventually marrying) her twin soul, and by the famous English clairvoyant Edwin Courtenay, who encouraged her to research the whole question of twinsoulship, Ann kept finding that people who had met their twin soul kept ‘landing in her lap’ – either as clients badly needing help over their relationship or as acquaintances for whom the concept was a welcomed revelation. The result of Ann’s in-depth research is a fascinating, well reviewed, book that can rightly be described as ‘the definitive book on twinsoulship’.

Ann’s husband’s retirement from the University of Hull enabled the couple to move to Shropshire, where she continues to practice her DMP therapy (both at home and at the Natural Health Centre in Ripon, N.Yorks.) as well as carrying on with her writing and enjoying her grandchildren. Her third book, to be published in the near future by O-Books, is entitled DISCOVERING THE LIFE PLAN – Eleven Steps to Your Destiny, and will be a very good book for anyone who is starting out on a spiritual path. (Her fifth book, yet to be completed, is A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO SOUL RESCUE and it again makes use of her personal work experience.)
